Jon Davis and his wife, Jody, are the founders of Coram Deo (www.coramdeorecovery.org) in the greater Hartford (CT) area. Coram Deo helps women struggling with addiction and abuse rebuild their lives and families. This support is provided through safe, structured recovery housing, employment services and a back-to-work program.

He continued, “The donation presented by NPAworldwide will provide the resources to house one woman for two months, allowing someone new to our program time to find employment and continue with our program. The Community Service Award was established in late 2019 to recognize members who are contributing to their local communities, volunteering, doing charitable activities, or impacting people in ways beyond their work in the network. Nominations are sought from the NPAworldwide membership based on the following criteria: Contribution to the audience or community; Impact on people / results for the community; Legacy or enduring difference made; Time invested / significance of sacrifice. The Community Service Award recipient is chosen by a selection committee, with the award presented during the NPAworldwide Global Conference.

Making the Right Connections #32 – Global Partnership Takes Flight

Australia-based client seeks VP Manufacturing, Quality and Supply in the US
A company in the airline cabin technology and inflight entertainment space is experiencing rapid growth. After the acquisition of a well-known competitor, it was determined that a new VP Manufacturing, Quality and Supply was needed. This role would also have significant interaction with its manufacturing facility in Mexico, spending considerable time there at the beginning.

The Action:

NPAworldwide partners collaborate to identify candidates
The client was working with an NPAworldwide recruitment firm in Brisbane, Australia. The Brisbane partner connected with an NPAworldwide member firm in San Diego, California with deep experience in both the industry and the territory in Mexico. The client met in-person with the San Diego partner to provide additional details while on a trip to the US. The San Diego partner sourced a number of candidates, with five being presented to the candidate. Three candidates made it through the initial round.

The Result:

A successful placement was made
The global partnership between the two NPAworldwide member recruitment firms resulted in one candidate from the initial pool being selected for reference checks, which were undertaken by the San Diego partner while the Brisbane partner conducted psychometric assessments. An offer was presented, and the candidate accepted the new role.

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, USA – February 20, 2018 –NPAworldwide Recruitment Network announced the results of its Global Employee Retention Survey. Member recruiters participating in more than 750 placements were asked to document the motivations and reasons for candidates leaving existing employers for new employment opportunities.

“Recruiters become uniquely exposed to the motivation behind a change of jobs” said Dave Nerz, president of NPAworldwide. “Candidates are in process with recruiters for weeks or months as they ponder a change. Sometimes these recruiter-candidate relationships span years. Since recruiters are paid significant fees to find top talent, employers can learn from this survey and change some of the issues within their control.”

The employee retention survey was a result of more than 350 candidate job changes in the 2018 version of this report. The survey was last completed in 2013 with more than 400 job changes documented. The results for 2018 show:

  • 46.1% of those making a job change cite “organizational” factors for the decision to leave the existing employer. Top organizational reasons captured included the desire to work for a smaller or larger employer and organizational direction that was concerning.
  • 52.8% of those reporting on the survey listed a “job-specific” motivation for the change of jobs. The top reason was unsatisfactory career progression.
  • 73% of employee moves managed by our recruiter group were captured as listing “personal” reasons as the motivation for the acceptance of a new job. Candidates were seeking growth and challenge most frequently, and secondarily were looking for a new location to live.

The top two reasons mentioned in the survey were “seeking growth and challenge” and “unsatisfactory career progression” reports Nerz. “Employers can retain top talent and impact retention stats within their companies with greater focus and training to address these known contributing factors.”
