Australia-based client seeks VP Manufacturing, Quality and Supply in the US
A company in the airline cabin technology and inflight entertainment space is experiencing rapid growth. After the acquisition of a well-known competitor, it was determined that a new VP Manufacturing, Quality and Supply was needed. This role would also have significant interaction with its manufacturing facility in Mexico, spending considerable time there at the beginning.

The Action:

NPAworldwide partners collaborate to identify candidates
The client was working with an NPAworldwide recruitment firm in Brisbane, Australia. The Brisbane partner connected with an NPAworldwide member firm in San Diego, California with deep experience in both the industry and the territory in Mexico. The client met in-person with the San Diego partner to provide additional details while on a trip to the US. The San Diego partner sourced a number of candidates, with five being presented to the candidate. Three candidates made it through the initial round.

The Result:

A successful placement was made
The global partnership between the two NPAworldwide member recruitment firms resulted in one candidate from the initial pool being selected for reference checks, which were undertaken by the San Diego partner while the Brisbane partner conducted psychometric assessments. An offer was presented, and the candidate accepted the new role.

Sydney-based retailer expanding into USA

A $100-million Sydney-based retail business is expanding into the American market and requires a president for the USA business.

 

The Action:

Retail owner learns of NPAworldwide recruiter with global connections

The owner of the Sydney retailer was sitting next to a Sydney NPAworldwide partner during a sporting event. The pair started chatting, and the Sydney recruiter discussed his membership in NPAworldwide and ability to work globally. The retail owner was impressed by the Sydney recruiter’s global capability and asked for his assistance on the search.

The Result:

NPAworldwide partners earn retained search assignment

The Sydney NPAworldwide partner contacted a USA NPAworldwide partner who specializes in executive search for the retail industry. The two partners made a joint (virtual) presentation to the Sydney retailer, followed by a series of meetings to develop a plan.

The end result: the two NPAworldwide partners earned the retained search assignment from the Sydney retailer, and are executing the search project as a joint effort.

Chinese corporate giant seeks CEO
A large Chinese company was looking for a CEO to implement an ambitious new project in Germany.

The Action:

NPAworldwide partner in China lands assignment
The Chinese client contacted an NPAworldwide partner in Nanjing, who accepted the assignment. That partner reached out to another NPAworldwide partner in Ekaterinburg, Russia for help locating qualified candidates.

The Result:

NPAworldwide partner in Russia locates successful candidate, resulting in largest split fee in NPAworldwide history
The Russian partner began an exhaustive search for high-level German automotive candidates. After several months, four candidates were presented, and one was hired.

The process was long and difficult, but ultimately successful due to the teamwork and professionalism of the NPAworldwide partners.

The Scenario:

Purple Squirrel needed for Brazil
In the recruiting business they are known as “Purple Squirrels” because they can be perfectly described but no one has really seen one. In this case, the employer required the successful candidate to speak Portuguese, be willing to represent the client and travel the South American continent, possess skills in the oil and gas domain, and have contacts with a major oil company.

The Action:

Difficult search, call on NPAworldwide partners
Two members in South America were engaged and the search began.

The Result:

Purple Squirrel located
After globally sourcing potentials, the NPAworldwide members were able to qualify and submit 3 candidates to the employer. All were qualified, but of course, one was a perfect fit.

The perfect candidate was found in Moscow by a senior consultant working for the Brazil-based member. The candidate was originally from Brazil and was ready to return home. So the “Purple Squirrel” was located.

The Houston based NPAworldwide member was asked, “Where do you find these people?” Of course the recruiter’s answer was, “That is what you hire us for. Because of our member-ownership in NPAworldwide, we were ready!”

The Scenario:

U.S. publishing company expands its London staff
A large multinational publishing company, headquartered in Oklahoma, was seeking sales, marketing and events professionals in London due to a merger/expansion.

The Action:

Oklahoma partner lands assignment
As a result of persistently marketing NPAworldwide’s international capabilities to this long-time client, a member in Oklahoma received the job orders for the three London positions. The Oklahoma member, primarily an engineering specialist, contacted a member in London for assistance with the positions.

The Result:

Six positions successfully filled
The London member identified candidates which were presented to the client for interviews, and all three openings were successfully filled, as well as an additional three openings. The client’s London hiring manager, with permission from the Oklahoma member, is now interfacing directly with the London member to streamline the hiring process. The two NPAworldwide members have a yearlong exclusive agreement for future recruiting needs with this client in exchange for a modest reduction in the fee schedule.

The Scenario:

Atlanta member recruiting for New York position
An NPAworldwide member in Atlanta was asked by the northern New York subsidiary of its Atlanta-based client to fill a job opening for a pressure vessel engineer.

The Action:

Atlanta member reaches across borders for help
The Atlanta member contacted his usual NPAworldwide resources for assistance in sourcing a qualified candidate, but could not locate one either already in, or willing to relocate to, northern New York. Realizing the position would be near the Canadian border, the Atlanta member thought to contact a Canadian member he’d met through years of attending NPAworldwide conferences. The two members recruited similar candidates and shared common industries and clients, but had never worked together due to the geographic limitations of their normal search efforts.

The Result:

Canadian member provides successful candidate
The Canadian partner located a Canadian citizen, working in California, who was a perfect fit for the job and eager to relocate nearer to Canada. The client hired the candidate, and subsequently shared another opening for an additional engineer who will be a direct report to the first candidate. The moral: NPAworldwide membership provides increased geographic reach, resulting in more effective client service.

The Scenario:

A Swedish company expands into Australia
A company based in Sweden with operations in Indonesia and China was looking to expand into Australia.

The Action:

Company approaches a local Indonesian recruiter
The firm approached was an NPAworldwide member based in Indonesia and shared the job opening with other NPAworldwide members in search of support. The job was in Brisbane and with the help of a Brisbane-based NPAworldwide partner, two candidates were identified.

The process was complex, drawn-out and at times difficult. It involved an Indonesia member firm with the job, Swedish client with HR managers in China and Singapore, a job in Brisbane and candidates from Iran and the UK, working with a Brisbane-based NPAworldwide placement partner firm. Managers flew in from Europe and Asia for the interviews.

The Result:

NPAworldwide Works!
There was one job, but the client was delighted with the quality of candidates presented that two candidates were hired! The Brisbane member is now starting work on a 3rd vacancy in Australia.

Company expanding manufacturing into China
A privately-held Midwest manufacturing company planned a phased expansion into China. The plan involved first developing solid sources of materials, then cultivating a partnership with a contract manufacturer of their products and ultimately establishing a China-based manufacturing operation.

The Action:

Client impressed with NPAworldwide’s global reach
The NPAworldwide recruiter explained to the company EVP how global reach could be provided for positions anywhere in the world. The EVP asked the recruiter to identify Chinese nationals as candidates for a China-based sourcing position.

The Result:

Candidates identified and hired
The NPAworldwide recruiter shared the position details with two partners in Asia to gain candidate referrals. Representatives from the manufacturing company flew to China to meet with several candidates and within two weeks of that meeting a candidate accepted the manufacturing company’s offer. Throughout the process, the NPAworldwide recruiter, with assistance from members in Hong Kong and Taiwan, was able to coach the client regarding visa requirements, payroll issues, housing and other critical details that delivered a successful result. The Ohio member commented, “NPAworldwide membership provided great results for our local client, halfway around the world.”

The Scenario:

Manufacturing Company Needs Experienced Candidates Overseas
A US-based company has multiple international openings for manufacturing, sales, and services operations roles.

The Action:

NPAworldwide Member Develops Standardized Processes and Tools
The company is an existing client of an NPAworldwide member. Due to the global nature of the hires, there were no standardized procedures in place. The hiring process was long due to delayed starts and language barriers. The NPAworldwide partner developed a standardized process for recruiting, qualification, and selection that can be repeated for future hiring needs.

The Result:

Manufacturing Company Successfully Fills Global Positions with Help of NPAworldwide Member
The NPAworldwide member leveraged its network relationships to identify high quality, external candidates. Ultimately, the NPAworldwide member was able to assist the client in filling 14 positions in 8 difference countries and met all new business commitments. Additionally, a pipeline of more than 20 additional candidates was developed for consideration for future roles.

The Scenario:

Company required a hard to find executive
A large financial services firm in Connecticut, owned by an international bank, needed an executive vice president for their credit card division.

The Action:

NPAworldwide members connect
The vice president of staffing for the financial services firm contacted an NPAworldwide member in Cincinnati, OH, which had previously provided staffing assistance to them. The Ohio recruiting firm did not have direct credit card experience, but was able to partner with an NPAworldwide firm in Ontario that specializes in that industry to identify candidates for the position.

The Result:

Search completed faster and more efficiently
The two recruiting firms met with the client to present an initial pool of qualified candidates and determine an interview process. Due to the speedy response, a second job order was also shared with the Ohio firm. Additional candidates were presented and interviews began within three weeks. Both positions were filled by the Ohio-Ontario NPAworldwide team.

During the search process, the client declared, “We have never had a search firm provide us with this many qualified candidates in such a short period of time for a position at this level.”
